The Mercer County Farm Bureau is gearing up for an exciting start to the year with major events, conferences, and new initiatives for local farmers and agricultural professionals. Jenna Preston, Farm Bureau Manager, joined Focus to discuss upcoming opportunities for involvement and learning.
The 15th annual Bushels for Hunger campaign wraps up on January 31st, with donations going toward local food programs. The final fundraising totals will be announced soon, with hopes of breaking previous records.
Farmers and ag professionals will also have a chance to speak directly with state legislators at the Governmental Affairs and Leadership Conference in Springfield. This event provides critical discussions on agriculture policy and issues affecting local farms.
Another highlight is the Women in Agriculture Conference on March 28th at Bally’s in Rock Island, featuring keynote speaker Brooke Taylor. Registration is now open for $70 but will increase after March 1st. The event includes networking, breakout sessions, and valuable insights for women in the industry.
Additionally, the Market Outlook Seminar on March 13th will feature Joe Camp, a well-known voice on the RFD program, offering expert insights on agricultural markets. Farmers interested in attending should RSVP by March 6th by calling 309-582-5116.
