Message From Mercer County School District Superintendent Scott Petrie

“On Friday Governor Pritzker ordered all schools closed beginning Tuesday March 17th through Monday March 30th, and last night the State Superintendent provided additional guidance. At this time, we expect to resume classes on Tuesday March 31st. During the closure all school events including practices will be cancelled. Due to the current public health landscape, school districts will not be required to use or make up emergency days related to this situation.
Mercer County is working to provide free lunch and breakfast to all students during the closure. We will begin providing grab and go meals Wednesday at selected sites. We are also intent on keeping students engaged in learning activities throughout this time. Some resources were provided Friday and additional materials will be available tomorrow.
We are making chromebooks available for individual student use in grades 2-6. You may have received a building level communication about your need or ability to participate in these opportunities. If you have not, they are available online now or by calling your school’s office tomorrow.
We will continue to share updates and respond accordingly as we receive additional information.”
