The man deemed “Mercer County’s best meth cook” has been sentenced to six years in prison. Charles Peacock received the punishment Tuesday morning in Mercer County Circuit Court. Mercer County State’s Attorney Meeghan Lee was arguing for a ten-year term with Peacock’s attorney seeking four-years, possibly impact incarceration. Judge Peter Church settled on a six-year term in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A $100,000 arrest warrant was issued for Peacock in March of 2017 after he failed to appear for a hearing in Mercer County Circuit Court on a petition to revoke his probation. He had been free on a $50,000 recognizance bond. Peacock was placed on four years probation in May of 2016 for violating the terms of his probation in a 2015 meth manufacturing case. The former Andalusia man was originally placed on three years probation for the Class 1 felony in February of 2016, but violated the conditions by visiting the co-defendant in the case and also failing to complete a drug evaluation.
Peacock was brought back from Florida this past March where he was being held on an unrelated charge.
