Mercer County and Rockridge will play for a traveling trophy in high school football every year, starting in the 2024 season.
With Mercer County’s move to the Three Rivers Athletic Conference (TRAC) next school year, Aledo/Mercer County will be in the same conference as Rockridge for the first time in 19 years. Mercer County High School athletic director Dustin Murray told WRMJ the game will be called the “County Line Clash.”
Rockridge hosts Mercer County in Week 7 of the 2024 season on Friday, October 11.
The last time the schools played in football was in the second round of the 2013 IHSA Class 2A playoffs. Mercer County won that game, 26-20, in double overtime.
