Mercer County and most of western Illinois are included in the federal disaster declaration that covers last spring’s flooding. President Trump granted a disaster declaration for 27 counties in Illinois yesterday. Most of them are along the Mississippi or Illinois rivers. The declaration opens the door for the federal government to pay for flood clean-up and to offer some homeowners or businesses a little extra help as well.
