The Mercer County unemployment rate is 5.5% percent.
The number is for March and compares to a 5.4% figure recorded at the same time a year ago, according to data from the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The unemployment rate is down in the county from 6.2% in February.
Unemployment is also higher than year-over-year levels, but lower than in February in Rock Island, Henderson, and Henry Counties. The unemployment rate is higher than last year at this time and equal to February in Warren County, while the Knox County unemployment rate has risen from year-to-year and month-to-month levels.
Statewide, the unemployment rate was recorded at 5.2% in March, an improvement from 5.5% in February. The Illinois unemployment rate in March 2025 was 4.7%.
