The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) released sub-sectional seeds for the upcoming baseball state series on Tuesday.
Rockridge earned the No. 1 seed in the local 2A sub-sectional, which splits 10 teams into two regionals. Alleman grabbed the No. 2 seed, Hall was seeded No. 3, and St. Bede rounded out the top four seeds at No. 4. IVC was tabbed as the No. 5 seed, Monmouth-Roseville was seeded No. 6, Princeton was seeded No. 7, and the No. 8-10 seeds were Sherrard, Mercer County, and Kewanee in that order.
Mercer County and Princeton are hosting the two regionals in the sub-sectional. IVC in Chillicothe is the sectional site, while the super-sectional is at St. Bede in Peru.
In 1A, Orion was seeded No. 2 in its sub-sectional. The rest of the top four consisted of No. 1 Putnam County, No. 3 Fulton, and No. 4 Annawan-Wethersfield. The regionals are hosted by Fulton and Annawan-Wethersfield, the sectional is at Putnam County, and the super-sectional is at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.
The IHSA updated its procedure for splitting sub-sectional teams into the two regional sites this season. Teams will be separated based on their true seeds, unless there is a hosting conflict.
The IHSA will release the full softball postseason pairings on Wednesday.
The softball baseball begins on May 25.
