Riverdale (2-0) beat Mercer County (0-1) in the season opener for the Golden Eagles at Northside Park in Aledo Wednesday.
The Rams scored the first five runs of the game and never trailed. Dawson Peterson went 3-4 with a home run to lead Riverdale at the plate. Maddox McWilliams earned the win on the mound. He allowed two earned runs in four and a third innings. McWilliams struck out 10 batters in his outing.
Carson Boelens took the loss for Mercer County. He gave up five earned runs in three innings.
