A local non-profit organization is holding its second annual homelessness simulation fundraiser this week to bring attention to people facing rural homelessness.
Mercer County Better Together’s (MCBT) “Night in a Car” challenges people to form teams and spend one night sleeping in their car on Friday night at the Mercer County VFW in Aledo. Each team is encouraged to raise $500 in sponsorship for the event.
All proceeds benefit the Mercer County Housing Initiative, which aims to provide emergency housing, transitional housing, and affordable housing for Mercer County residents.
MCBT Executive Director Kyle McEwen says it’s a rewarding effort.
The event takes place from 7 p.m. on Friday to 7 a.m. on Saturday.
