Mercer County senior citizens being reminded about the open enrollment period for Medicare, which begins Saturday. Navigating the many options for health and drug coverage can be overwhelming. So the Illinois Department on Aging offers guidance each year says Senior Health Insurance Program or SHIP Director Sandy Leith.
Locally, a SHIP counselor is available through the Mercer County Senior Center in Aledo, located at 137 West Main Street. The phone number is 309-582-7221.
Leith says there are so many plan options, supplemental policies, and changes, that it doesn’t hurt to look around. You can start at medicare.gov.
The open enrollment period runs through Dec. 7.
