It took a jury just about three hours to find Daylon Richardson guilty of murdering a Knox County Deputy Nicholas Weist two years ago. The jury from Henry County came back with its verdict yesterday. Prosecutors charged Richardson with murder after he ran down Weist back in 2022. Richardson was speeding away from police at the time. Richardson’s lawyers argued that his car was simply out of control when he hit the deputy. Richardson is looking at a life sentence, he’ll be sentenced in May.
Weist began his law enforcement career with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department and Aledo Police Department.
