A bill sponsored by local State Rep. Dan Swanson (R-Alpha) that aims to fortify recruitment to the Illinois National Guard was signed into law last week.
Gov. JB Pritzker (D-Illinois) signed Senate Bill 3818, which Swanson says will use the knowledge of current Illinois National Guard members to facilitate the enlistment of new soldiers and airmen and provide financial compensation for successful referrals.
Neighboring states have reported increased recruitment through similar programs.
