Three local softball standouts were named Illinois Coaches Association (ICA) Softball First Team All-State.
Rockridge junior Kendra Lewis was named a first team all-state player for the third year in a row. Lewis finished the 2023 season with a 25-0 record as a pitcher with a 1.46 ERA. Lewis is 63-0 for her career through three seasons. Lewis hit .568 with 14 home runs and 57 RBI this year.
Rocket senior Payton Brown earned ICA first team all-state honors for the second year in a row after hitting an IHSA single-season record 27 home runs in 2023. She finished her career with 54 home runs, tied for fourth in IHSA history. She hit for a .578 average with 58 RBI this season, as well.
Mercer County senior Madi Frieden was also tabbed for the first-team. She hit .596 with seven home runs and 47 RBI in 2023. Frieden led Mercer County to a school record 26 wins and the first ever regional championship for the school in 2023.
Rockridge seniors Cierra Bush and Kori Needham and Sherrard sophomores Nadia Anderson and Savanah Hauger were named ICA second team all-state.
Sherrard’s Teagan Nees and Makenzie Moran and Orion’s Ella Sundberg and Lainey Kunert earned ICA third team all-state honors.
