The Mercer County Junior High Golden Eagles advanced to the Class3A IESA Regional softball game with a 12-6 road win over Dunlap Thursday. The game was tied at 3 after 3 before Mercer County took the lead for good scoring 2 runs in the fourth and they put the game away with 5 in the sixth. Alivia Gillespie threw the first 3 innings and Elsie Cook completed the game to get the win. Offensively the Golden Eagles knocked out 12 hits with Natlie Thompson leading the was with 4 hits and 3 RBI. Olivia Dillavou had 3 hits and knocked in 4 and Rayla Parkinson also collected 3 knocks. Mercer County will play Princeton Saturday morning at 10:30 for the regional championship game. The game is played Malden Grade School in Malden, IL.
