John K. ‘Jack’ Sackfield – Services 8/15/22

John K. “Jack” Sackfield, 81 of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Monday, August 8, 2022 at Country Manor in Davenport, Iowa. Services are 11 a.m., Monday, August 15, at Community Bible Church in Matherville. Burial is in the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, Rock Island. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Quad City Animal Welfare Center.

Jack was born September 25, 1940 in Rock Island to John and Edith Bakken Sackfield. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1958. On December 3, 2003 he married Linda Moore Alvarez in Rock Island.

He was employed at IH Farmall in Rock Island, Illinois until being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving from 1965-1967. Jack continued to work at IH Farmall until 1985. He was then employed at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 2005.

He enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada.

Jack was a member of the Rock Island Moline Legion Post 246.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; two stepchildren, Jim (JoAnn) Erickson of Vance, Alabama, and Brad Erickson of Rock Island; three step-grandchildren, Anthony, Jeff, and Brandon; three great step-grandchildren, Sandy, Ian, and Logan; one brother, Mike (Evelyn) Sackfield of Matherville, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Tom Adams of Moline, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Connie Gale of Orion, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Sharon Adams; and one brother, Warren Gale.
