Orion senior Maddux Anderson finished state runner-up in the 190-pound Class 1A bracket at the IHSA Individual Wrestling State Finals Saturday at the State Farm Center in Champaign.
Anderson (51-4) was pinned by Marian sophomore Jimmy Mastny (53-1) in 1:45 in the state championship bout.
Rockridge senior 138-pounder Jude Finch (43-1) took third place by defeating Marian senior Andrew Alvarado (26-12) by tech fall 19-2 in the third-place match.
At 165 pounds, Mercer County junior Eli Burns (22-7) took home a sixth-place medal after dropping the fifth-place match to Hope Academy sophomore Arkail Griffin (49-6) by major decision 19-5.
Riverdale junior Dean Wainwright (47-2) claimed a state championship at 132 pounds with a 10-5 decision over Unity Christian junior Garrett VerHeecke (44-2) in the title match.
At 157 pounds, the Rams won another state title with senior Blake Smith (36-1) holding on to beat Newman senior Briar Ivey (47-4) with a 10-9 decision in the championship bout.
