IDPH Talks Pesky Buffalo Gnats

Due to a wet spring, there are plenty of gnats to contend with this summer.  Buffalo gnats are especially nasty this year and Illinois Department of Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says they are attracted to the air we breath out, perfumes and even deodorant. They also aren’t fended off easily.


She says the mosquitoes that are out now are mostly floodwater mosquitoes, which don’t typically carry the West Nile Virus.
