Food insecurity is a problem that affects many in our community. The Churches of Mercer County Food Pantry, located at 1200 S. College Ave., Aledo, is asking for help to fill that need. Darla Phelps, Lori Benson, and Krissy Dixon are on the board of directors and told WRMJ’s Terry James donations are down and the need is up.
Dixon says the best way to help is to donate food or money for food to be bought in bulk.
The Churches of Mercer County Food Pantry is in need of things such as cereal, canned fruit, and peanut butter.

Also, the Mercer County Health Department is holding its 2nd Annual Healthy Living Fair in conjunction with Aledo Main Street’s Farmer’s Market from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday, August 8, in Aledo’s Central Park.
