Deborah K. DeBacker, 64 of Gilbert, Arizona, formerly of Eliza, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022 at Hospice of the Valley – Lund Home in Gilbert. Services are 3 p.m., Saturday, July 9, at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, Illinois. Burial is in the Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is 1 p.m. until the time of services Saturday at Fippinger’s where a memorial fund will be established.
Debbie was born January 28, 1958 in Muscatine, Iowa, to Melvin and Beverly Short. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1976. On August 1, 1975, she married Jeffrey A. DeBacker in Aledo.
Debbie was a homemaker for 46 years and while also being employed at Super Target in Gilbert for 18 years.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, movies, gaming, and decorating for every holiday. She was an avid Harry Potter fan and dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey; one daughter, Amanda DeBacker (Jeremy Birch) of Sioux City, Iowa; two sons, Nathan (Cindy) DeBacker of Chandler, Arizona, and Kegan DeBacker of Gilbert; six grandchildren, Tristan Sweum, Hayden Sweum, Kellen Sweum, Amber Marie Sweum, Lilian DeBacker, and Andrew DeBacker; her parents, Melvin and Beverly Short of New Boston, Illinois; two sisters, Vickie Hall of Coal Valley, Illinois, and Cindy (Dennis) Nelson of Joy, Illinois; one brother, Randy (Laurie) Short of Oquawka, Illinois; mother-in-law, Jean Mahaffey of Aledo; one brother-in-law, Stephen (Linda) DeBacker of Preemption, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Andrew; a brother-in-law, James Hall; sister-in-law, Carole DeBacker; and father-in-law, George DeBacker.
