An Illinois Republican gubernatorial candidate is hosting a rally in Galesburg with local candidates for U.S. Representative, state representative, and state senate on Monday.
Darren Bailey is one of four candidates running for the Republican nomination for Illinois governor. Ted Dabrowski, James Mendrick and Rick Heidner are challenging him.
Bailey will be joined by Dillan Vancil, who is running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Rep. in the 17th Congressional District. He is being challenged by Julie Bickelhaupt in the primary. Incumbent democrat Eric Sorensen is running unopposed in his party’s primary.
Brad Beekman, who is campaigning for state senate in Illinois’ 36th district against Patrick Harlan, and Josh Higgins, who is running for state rep. in Illinois’ 94th district against incumbent Norrine Hammond and Bailey Templeton, will both be part of the rally as well.
Bailey spoke to WRMJ about his endorsement of Higgins during a campaign stop in Aledo last month.
Incumbent Democrat State Sen. Mike Halpin is running unopposed in his party’s primary for state senate in the 36th district. No Democrat is running for state rep. in the 94th district.
The event begins at the Galesburg Airport at 4 p.m.
