The Sherrard School District looking at several scenarios for the Class of 2020 graduation ceremony. If restrictions for social distancing are eased in Illinois, the ceremony will take place at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline at 2 p.m. on Sun., Aug. 2. If the restrictions for social distancing are still in place, the event will be held in the student parking lot, also at 2 p.m. on Aug. 2. Families and friends would remain in their cars during the ceremony and watch the graduates receive diplomas in a socially distanced manner. Depending on the number of cars that will be allowed, there could be two separate ceremonies.
If circumstances prevent the parking lot ceremony from taking place, a virtual ceremony will be held online on Aug. 2. Pictures and videos will be combined into a graduation presentation that could also involve live-streaming.
