Contested Races In Keithsburg & Joy Tuesday; Viola & Alexis Village President Posts Also Decided

Tuesday’s consolidated election in Mercer County features several contested races in Keithsburg and Joy. In Keithsburg, incumbent Mayor Allen Henshaw is being challenged by former City Clerk Sharon Reason. There are also six candidates running for three Keithsburg City Council seats—Janet Occhi, Donnie Cox, Nila Carle, Melonie McLaughlin, Lisa Wessels and Chad Weeks.
In Joy, Mark Heater and Todd Heath are running for Village President and five candidates are running for three village board seats—Paul Hampton, Noah Livermore, Joshua McKinney, Joe Hunt and Katherine Leonard.
There’s just one contested Aledo City Council race on Tuesday. In the third ward, incumbent alderman Terry Bewley is being challenged by former city council member Jay Doherty.
New Boston has one contested race for a city council seat in the third ward—Keith Schreurs and Christian King.
In Viola, incumbent Village President Kirk Doonan is being challenged by Michael Lester.
And in Alexis, Rick Benson and Dale Oberhaus are running for Village President with five candidates running for three village board seats—Dan Blake, Madison Blake, Julie Corben VanFleet, Moses Anderson and Jesse Hare.
