An aggravated battery to a child case has been filed in Mercer County. 28-year-old Genevieve R. Lawrence is facing a Class 3 felony count. The charge accuses her of choking a four-year-old boy in late January. Her attorney appeared on her behalf Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 5. Lawrence has entered a not guilty plea to the charge.
UPDATE: On a state motion, the case has been dismissed.
