Brimfield-Elmwood ended Rockridge’s softball season with a 9-0 win in the championship of the IHSA 2A Kewanee Regional on Friday.
The Indians (28-5) scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Kendyl Binder, where Rockridge threw the ball away after one run had already scored on the play and allowed Binder to come all the way around to the plate.
Brimfield-Elmwood added three runs in the third inning and four more in the fourth.
Sawyer Drury was the winning pitcher, allowing just one hit and two walks in seven innings. She struck out 10 batters in the win.
Rockridge (25-9) was limited to just three baserunners in the loss.
Brimfield-Elmwood will play Peoria Notre Dame at the 2A Brimfield Sectional next week.
