Attorney Representing Mercer County Meth Defendant Arrested On Controlled Substance Charges

An attorney representing a Mercer County meth defendant facing controlled substance charges.  45 year old John G. Steckel of Rock Island is charged with Class 1 and Class 4 felony counts in Rock Island County.  He was arrested in the Quad Cities and is free on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for March 7th in Rock Island County Circuit Court.   Steckel is representing 25 year old Erica Sandusky of Matherville in a Mercer County methamphetamine case. She is awaiting trial on Class X, Class 1 and Class 4 felony counts.  A pre-trial conference is set for March 20th. The man dubbed “Mercer County’s best meth cook”—23 year old Charles Peacock is a co-defendant in the case and is expected to testify at her trial.
