A Sherrard woman’s animal cruelty case has been continued to next month. The delay is attributed to the defense. 59-year-old Karen Plambeck appeared for a pre-trial conference Monday in Mercer County Circuit Court with the matter continued to March 21.
She is facing twelve animal cruelty charges stemming from an August investigation where 198 dogs were rescued from her property.
Plambeck is also charged with a felony of unlawful communication with a witness in connection with the animal cruelty case.
All 198 dogs have been forfeited to the care of Mercer County Animal Control. Over $170,000 worth of veterinary and boarding costs were introduced as evidence in a court hearing in September.
Plambeck has posted bond in both the animal cruelty and unlawful communication of a witness case. She has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
