Local State Senator Neil Anderson of Andalusia has reintroduced legislation to end Illinois’ requirement for a Firearm Owner Identification card. He says it’s a redundant process because of already required federal background checks.
Anderson says the Illinois State Police is so backed-up or understaffed that people are waiting six months to a year to renew their FOID card or concealed carry permit. He says the state is supposed to process those in under three months.
