Ambulance Coverage Secured For Aledo, Joy, Seaton, & Keithsburg

The Fire Protection Districts of Aledo, Joy, and Seaton, and the City of Keithsburg have reached an oral agreement with Elite Industrial Services or Elite EMS for 911 Ambulance Service.

The new ambulance service consists of one ambulance staffed by a paramedic and EMT 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and stationed in Aledo.

Contract language is being finalized for the deal, which is set to take effect January 1.

A press release from the Mercer County Ambulance Committee says there most likely will be some changes as to how the 911 ambulance service operates and those changes will be announced once the contract is completed. The release also says the cost to provide 911 ambulance service, like everything else, has gone up, and that, combined with the withdrawal of Greene Township Fire Protection District as a participant in the 911 Ambulance Service agreement means a cost increase for all.

Genesis Ambulance is currently providing ambulance coverage for Aledo, Joy, Greene Township, and Seaton fire protection districts and the city of Keithsburg, but that contract expires Dec. 31.
