Criminal cases are continuing against a pair of Quad Cities area people facing murder charges in a 2024 drug-related death investigation in rural Sherrard.
43-year-old William DeWitt of Milan and 54-year-old Susan McFalls of Colona appeared in Mercer County Circuit Court on Monday, where both had their respective hearings continued.
A status hearing for DeWitt was set for Feb. 1, while McFalls will return to court for a pretrial conference on Dec. 14.
DeWitt is facing charges of first-degree murder and a Class X felony of drug-induced homicide stemming from the 2023 death of 63-year-old Anthony Qualls of Sherrard. McFalls is charged with first-degree murder and a Class X felony of drug-induced homicide via accountability.
Both have pleaded not guilty to all charges and are out on pretrial release.
