Mercer County Unemployment Rate Below Statewide Average

The Mercer County unemployment rate at 4.2% percent.

The number is for June and compares to a 4.1% figure that was recorded the same time a year ago, according to data from the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Unemployment is also higher than year-over-year levels in Knox County, while it’s equal in Warren and Henderson Counties. Unemployment is down from last year at this time in Rock Island and Henry Counties.

The unemployment rate identifies those who are out of work and seeking employment. A person who exhausts benefits, or is ineligible, still will be reflected in the unemployment rate if they actively seek work.

Statewide, the unemployment rate is 5.1%.
