ALEDO, IL – WRMJ and the United Way of Greater Warren County are teaming up to bring summer fun to Mercer County families with the “Pool’s Out For Summer” promotion on Farm Country 102.3.
With Aledo’s Fenton Park pool closed and the new aquatic center not expected to open until 2026, local families may be looking for ways to stay cool and entertained. WRMJ is stepping in to help—giving away Adventureland tickets in Des Moines, Knight’s Action Park passes in Springfield, and Quad Cities River Bandits tickets throughout the summer.

Jeannie Weber, Executive Director of the United Way of Greater Warren County, recently joined Terry James on WRMJ’s Focus program to share her inspiring journey into nonprofit service. Jeannie explained that her transition from the corporate world was deeply personal—helping her daughter receive cochlear implants and relying on nonprofits as a survivor of abuse helped spark her passion to serve others. After 30 years in business, she changed careers to lead with purpose.
Jeannie highlighted that United Way of Greater Warren County now supports multiple initiatives in Mercer County, including:
Imagination Library, run by Mercer County Better Together, which delivers free books to young children
YMCA summer program grants to provide enriching opportunities for kids
Jamieson Community Center’s senior meals, ensuring older adults stay nourished and connected
Thanks to a grant from the Moline Foundation, United Way was able to start giving to Mercer County before ever asking for local donations. But now they’ve launched their first capital campaign in the region—setting a goal to raise $50,000 in four months to sustain and grow these vital efforts.
Weber encourages community members to give what they can, either as a one-time gift or through small monthly donations. Contributions can be made easily at wcunitedway.org. She also shared plans for workplace giving campaigns, reminding listeners how even modest payroll deductions, when combined, can make a big impact.
