For the second straight season, Sherrard grad and Augustana College track and field athlete Charlotte Frere is a national champion in discus.
Frere entered Thursday’s action at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships as the nation’s top seed in the discus event and remained atop the field from the start. Frere threw 46.69m in her first attempt and followed it up with a toss of 46.87m, which remained the furthest distance through five rounds. Frere closed out the event with a throw of 48.35m to up her final winning mark.
Frere is the first-ever women’s track & field student-athlete at Augustana to win two national championships.
