For Dennis Mellgren, Veterans Day is every day. Mellgren assists veterans at the Mercer County Veterans Assistance Office. Veterans can come by when they need help with filing paperwork, getting transportation to Iowa City’s VA Hospital, and numerous other efforts described by Mellgren in the interview below. Mellgren says his job is to promote the welfare of all honorably discharged veterans of the military service and their families.
He was a guest on WRMJ’s Focus program and said his office will soon start making home visits.
