Aledo’s rep in Congress touting her role with the House Freedom Caucus. Republican Mary Miller was among the 20 holdouts impacting the selection of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. He was eventually elected after a 15th vote Saturday.
In a press release from Miller’s office, she says “after intense negotiations and hard work by House Freedom Caucus members and House Republican leadership, we changed the rules to ensure that a Republican-controlled House cannot betray conservatives the way Senate Republicans did when they passed President Biden’s $1.7 trillion omnibus.”
Miller adds the conservative package includes “a church-style committee to investigate the weaponization of the Federal government, including the Department of Justice; southern border security plan; and the end of COVID mandates and funding for them.”
With redistricting, Miller now represents Aledo and western Mercer County.
