Joseph W. Morrison – Services 8/2/22

Joseph W. Morrison, 79 of Bishop Hill, formerly of Aledo, died Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation one hour prior to services. Private family burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Joe was born on September 24, 1942, in Rock Island, Illinois to Harold and Helen (Reed) Morrison. He married Ann Albright on July 3, 1964, in Corwin, KS. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2013.

Joe and Ann owned and operated Morrison’s Greenhouse in Aledo for many years. He also was a member of Teamsters Local, #371 for over 30 years, for which he drove truck. In his earlier years he was a police officer for both the City of Aledo and Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

Joe loved working in the greenhouse, collecting toy trucks, and his trips to Branson with Ann. He was a doting grandpa and enjoyed helping the grandkids with their projects, or just taking a nap with them. Joe was a member of the Aledo Masonic Lodge, AF & AM #252.

Joe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Katrina Morrison of Bishop Hill; daughter, Suzanne Pitts of Moline; sister: Mary Sue Morrison of Rockford, IL; and grandchildren, Connor and Courtney Morrison and Alex Morrison. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Harold Morrison.
