Freshman U.S. Representative Mary Miller is the Republican nominee in the race for Illinois’ 15th District House seat. The newly drawn 15th includes a portion of Mercer County. Miller defeated fellow incumbent Rodney Davis in Tuesday’s primary. Miller was endorsed by former President Trump at a rally in Mendon over the weekend.
In the 17th Congressional District, which also includes a portion of Mercer County, Esther Joy King won the Republican nomination with Eric Sorensen taking the Democratic nomination in a six-way race.
In the 71st State Rep. District, Dan Swanson won the Republican nomination over the Matthew Rauschert.
In the 36th State Senate District, Mike Thoms defeated Glen Evans, Sr., for the Republican nomination. Thoms will meet Democrat Mike Halpin in the fall general election.
