The new owners of the Aledo Opera House look to bring more movies back to Mercer County, but to do so they will need to purchase a digital projector. As a way to raise money, Dan and Michelle Mellgren are hosting Mercer County’s Got Talent.
“Basically anyone that has talent we want them to come out and fill out a form either with myself or with True Audio and bring their music there so we can make sure the music is set up. We’ll audition everybody and we will have three judges and then we will make up to a 12 people cut. From there we’ll have the actual show and we’ll have businesses that will give you the opportunity to vote for those winners and then we will have five judges on that. We’ll have judges awards and people’s choices awards.”
Michelle Mellgren tells WRMJ News the event is similar to the Dancing with the Stars event in years past. The new projector is a major cost for the new owners.
“It’s approximately $50,000. Right now what we have collected in donations at the concessions and the Go Fund Me account I believe is about $2,000 to $2,500 is what we currently have.”
Auditions are June 11th with a dress rehearsal and show date in October at the Aledo Opera House. To get your entry form and reserve an audition time, call Michelle Mellgren at 582-5359.
