Christopher S. Nelson – Services 11/9/25

Christopher S. Nelson, 58 of Aledo, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Sunday, November 9, at Speer Funeral Home, Aledo, with visitation prior to services from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Nelson Family for a memorial to be established later.

Christopher Scott Nelson was born on July 24, 1967, in Davenport, Iowa. He was adopted by Charles and Sue (Bunning) Nelson. Chris was a 1985 graduate of Aledo High School, where he loved to bowl and was on the golf team. He married Deborah (Myrick) Morehart on May 25, 1998, in Aledo, IL.

Chris was currently working for General Machine and Grind. In his spare time, he and Deb could be found camping. They especially enjoyed the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, Florida, and Colorado. He excelled in photography, particularly in landscape photography. Chris loved to go out at night and catch the moon or the northern lights. He was also a talented singer and builder, as he had previously built his own home.

Chris is survived by his wife, Deb; children, Amy Anderson of Sherrard and Nathan (Sarah) Morehart of Rock Island; grandchildren, Emily, Isaac, Ellie, Abbie, Annabelle, Blake, Fisher, Elodie, Imogen, and Davis; great-grandchildren, Louis, Leiselotte, and one lovingly expected; a sister, Kelli (Michael) Miller of Ottawa, IL; a brother, Craig (Bridgette) Nelson of Normal, IL; and nieces and nephews, Cody (Melissa) Miller, Tiffany (Michael) Guldner, Daniel Nelson, and Olivia Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Sue Nelson.

Several years ago, Chris reached out and found his birth mother, Stephanie Olga Miller, and gained more family through her, a brother, John Allen Tiefenbach; a sister, Lisa Ann (Chris) Dease; and nieces, Ashley Blair and Tyler Kay Roberts. Stephanie and John preceded him in death.
