A new riverfront attraction for Mercer County this spring. The Landing bandshell stage in Keithsburg is funded by a $30,000 creative arts grant from the Looser Flake Charitable Trust. The stage will be a venue for rent but also an area to bring the community together through music and attracting business to town, according to Keithsburg City Clerk Kayla Hillman. The project will also include electrical hookup, lighting, and sound equipment.
Hillman tells WRMJ that Craig Zenk Excavation and Matt Rooth Excavating are donating time and resources to get the lot where the stage is located smoothed out and ready for grass seed.
Blue Jay Barns out of Smithshire will start building the stage in the coming weeks.
Hillman is hopeful the first show can be held in May.
