Security Bond Filed In Animal Cruelty Case; Sherrard Woman Forfeits 198 Dogs

Over $170,000 worth of veterinary and boarding costs introduced as evidence in a Mercer County animal cruelty case. That was part Mercer County State’s Attorney Grace Simpson motion for a security bond. The matter involves 59-year-old Karen Plambeck and the removal of 198 dogs from her property last month.

Plambeck will return to Mercer County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing on Oct. 18. She is facing animal cruelty and unlawful communication with a witness charges—a total of six felony counts.
She posted ten-percent, $25,000 bond in the animal cruelty case and has also posted ten-percent, $35,000 bond in the witness communication case.
