WRMJ Audio: 50-Years Later; Still A Great IHSA Baseball Story

This year marks the 50-year anniversary of one of the most memorable IHSA baseball stories. So good that a book was written about the 1971 tale of Macon High School. WRMJ Sports Director Jim Taylor spoke with author Chris Ballard. He wrote the book “One Shot at Forever: A Small Town, an Unlikely Coach, and a Magical Baseball Season”. It details the improbable run of the small school team, advancing all the way to the state championship game in a one-class system. The squad was led by an English teacher with no coaching experience.
