City Will Do What It Can To Have Rhubarb Fest

Aledo city officials have said they will do everything in their power so that a Rhubarb Festival can be held this year.  The festival committee will make a final decision next month and at a city council meeting earlier this month, Mayor Chris Hagloch reiterated the city’s support for the event.

The festival committee meets April 13 to render a final decision on the festival for 2021, which is scheduled for June 4 & 5. Mercer County’s current test positivity rate is at 6.0 percent with the region at 4.2 percent. The local COVID region is in Phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan, which allows for 15 people per 1,000 square feet. Before reaching Phase 5 or a complete reopening, the Governor has announced an additional step called “A Bridge To Phase 5” which would allow for 30 people per 1,000 square feet.
