When A ‘Presidential Love Child’ Frequents Mercer County; It Happened In 1920’s

Revisiting the story of a “Presidential love child” and the connection to Mercer County. It is confirmed that President Warren G. Harding had a relationship with a woman named Nan Britton and they had an out of wedlock child named Elizabeth Ann. Late Mercer County historian Stephanie Braucht spoke with WRMJ back in 2015 about the Mercer County connection.

The Associated Press is reporting this week that the grandson of Harding and Britton, went to court in an effort to get Harding’s remains exhumed from the presidential memorial where they have lain since 1927. James Blaesing told an Ohio court that he is seeking Harding’s disinterment as a way “to establish with scientific certainty” that he is the 29th president’s blood relation.
