LIHEAP assistance will be available early this fall thanks to the COVID pandemic. Community Action distributes Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program funding, or LIHEAP. Executive Director Alison Rumler-Gomez indicates the CARES Act contained extra funding for the program so they are making it available to make sure all the money gets distributed.
LIHEAP offers one-time payment towards energy bill assistance that could span several payments. They also have a program with a stipend towards your monthly bill and there is a one-time reconnection payment as well.
Locally, LIHEAP is administered through Mercer County Project NOW. For more information on applying, you can call 582-2644.
