The Mercer County Fair Board has announced cancellation of the 2020 fair this summer. The action is due to the Governor’s executive order and the State of Illinois Covid-19 5-Phase restart program says fair board president Rex McWhorter.
This marks the third time the fair has been cancelled since 1853. No fair was held in 1862 because of the Civil War and the fair was scrapped in 1938 due to financial difficulties.
The next Mercer County Fair is July 13-17, 2021.
