A local state lawmaker has introduced legislation that would add missing veterans to the state’s “Silver Alert” program. A Silver Alert is just like an Amber Alert for missing children, quickly alerting the public if a person with dementia or Alzheimer’s can’t be found. State Representative Dan Swanson of Woodhull, a veteran himself, says the same should be done for vets.
Under Swanson’s legislation, alerts to the public would include highway signs, text alerts and broadcast messages.
