Rooth Case Remains ‘Very Active’ Investigation

It’s been nearly two months since former Mercer County Board member Fred Rooth was attacked in his rural Joy farmhouse and authorities continue to seek information on the crime. Mercer County Sheriff Dave Staley says the case remains a very active investigation.

The reward fund is over $23,000.  Information continues to be sought through the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department at 582-5194 or Mercer County Crime Stoppers at 582-3500 or toll free at 800-582-2762. The retired farmer was found badly beaten on May 8th. Among the items taken from his home was a safe.
