WRMJ Interview: Up Against Calendar; IHSA’s Anderson Provides An Update On Status Of High School Sports In Illinois

IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson

One month from Friday, fall high school sports practices are scheduled to start (Aug. 10), but will that happen? WRMJ Sports Director Jim Taylor examined that question with IHSA Executive Director Friday morning, just a day after the IHSA and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) announced modifications to the IHSA’s Phase 4 Return To Play Guidelines. The changes place greater restrictions on coaches and student-athletes in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and include limiting physical contact and an increased usage of masks. The updated guidelines restrict schools from conducting contests against other schools in most sports, including 7-on-7 in football.
