WRMJ is proud to mark its 46th year of covering the Mercer County Fair—one of the most cherished traditions in our listening area. Broadcasting live from the fairgrounds in Aledo all week, WRMJ will deliver daily afternoon reports featuring the sights, sounds, and stories of this beloved summer celebration. From livestock shows and youth competitions to grandstand entertainment and carnival fun, we’re excited to once again bring the fair experience directly to our listeners.
This year’s fair, running July 7–12, is packed with events for all ages. Tuesday features the Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Queen Pageant, along with rabbit shows and carnival rides. Wednesday is dedicated to kids, with a special carnival wristband deal, a bike giveaway, and flat track motorcycle racing in the evening. Thursday welcomes senior citizens with $2 admission until 2 p.m., along with goat and beef shows, hearing and vision screenings, bingo, and the Night of Destruction. Friday includes the 4-H Youth Livestock Auction, live music in the beer garden, and the Backroad Pullers Truck and Tractor Pull, while Saturday wraps up the week with the Baby Contest, Talent Contest, Demolition Derby, and more live music.
Throughout the week, the carnival operates daily, and visitors can explore the Merchants’ Building and Exhibition Hall, open noon to 8 p.m. WRMJ’s fair reports wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible sponsors—local businesses who help keep this tradition alive.
