Sherrard (18-8) blanked Mercer County (14-18) 7-0 in the semifinals of the IHSA 2A Monmouth-Roseville Regional on Wednesday to advance to Saturday’s regional championship game.
Aidan Terronez threw a complete-game shutout, allowing four hits and striking out 16 batters to earn the win. He now has 118 strikeouts this season, which is three shy of tying the single-season record at Sherrard.
Harrison Curry was 2-3 with a home run and three RBI for the Tigers. Garrett Woodward drove in two runs in the win.
Sherrard will play either Rockridge or Hall in the regional championship in Monmouth on Saturday at 1 p.m.
